Love You More

Resting_In_His_Word_Wednesday.JPG

It’s a game I started with my oldest that always makes my heart ache slightly.

You see, in a completely random moment, I will yell his name as I smile and wait for his reply.

“What mom?”

“I love you” I reply.

“No, I love you more” sometimes more than one squeeky little boys reply.

“No, I love you more” I interject.

They reply.

I reply.

Evèntually I cave in as I’m wrestled to the ground by usually all three of our boys erupting in laughter.

Yet, as sweet as these moments are for me, I wonder when the day will come when I say “I love you” without an answer from the other end. You see, I cherish these bonding moments because I know all too soon my boys will grow-up and adventure outside of the arms of my protection. They will fall, they will fail, they will triumph and they will soar. But at the beginning and end of it all, honestly, I will always love them more than they can ever imagine.

Sometimes I admit, I find myself in a moment that I slip my head toward the sky and whisper “I love You God.” Only to wait and truly experience that He loves me more than I could ever imagine.

As I watch my coaching clients thrive through obstacles that once held them back, I hear Him say “I love you more.”

As I completed the last sentence of my first book draft, I hear Him say “I love you more.”

As I speak about the darkest moments of my cancer journey, I hear Him say “I love you more.”

As I read an encouraging message from a reader that has found hope for the first time, I hear Him say “I love you more.”

So many times I have felt like yelling to God in the midst of my tears, “God, I love You!” And I wait in silence. Where is His hand in my current situation? Doesn’t He see that these waves are about to take me under?

But because I have heard His voice in the past, I know He is with me even in the worst of life’s storms. I know He answers. I know He is there.

I know to be prepared and listen for His response…

Yet, I always seem to be caught-off guard by His timing. I continue to be surprised…even if I know He keeps His promises.

Can you relate?

Step out in faith and listen, even in the storm and reach your ear to His Promise:

…Bethany, I AM able, through MY mighty power at work within you, to accomplish infinitely more than you might ask or think. (‭based off of Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ NLT)

He is able.

He has the power.

He is ALREADY at work WITHIN you!

His love for us is more than just the accomplishment of our dreams, it’s trusting Him with our dream and trading ours in for His.

Have you heard God say, “I love you more?” Let God love you by allowing Him to use you in His story.

And get ready for His MORE.

    • THIS: “Yet, I always seem to be caught-off guard by His timing. I continue to be surprised…even if I know He keeps His promises.” Oh how many times I have been caught off guard by his timing. God does respond with “Love you more” so very often. I need to remember that and be drenched in those beautiful words of grace!

  1. Yes!! He does, even when he is PAINFULLY carving off your humanness to make you more Christ-like. Even when you are so deep in the valley you feel like you can’t get out. Even when you still foolishly feel alone, or you sheepishly feel the shame of your sins. Even then, He loves you more. Amazing!

  2. Trading my dream in for His dream….ahh, yes…that’s what I want. He knows what is best, and just like you said, He is with us through the storms. What may seem like a storm to us may just be God working IN us and THROUGH us.
