Leave – 5 Minute Friday

Sometimes in life the greatest moment of growth lies beyond our dreams. It’s the second our shaking foot casts a shadow into the darkened unknown as our trembling hand is held securely in Abba’s grasp.

What if our dreams are just the beginning of His plan?

What if our dreams actually hold us back from becoming His fully used Masterpiece?

When I write, I go to the safest, most exhilarating place I know here on earth. As I breathe in, words form that string endlessly together in my mind in such a way, I know my frazzled brain cells just can’t keep up. When I speak and hear my introduction, truthfully, I want to puke. Seriously. Yet as I breathe in and words just flow with body motions and energy so out of my norm, I know I feel alive. I don’t want the freedom to end. I know He’s got me right where He wants me to be.

He wants me to leave.

He wants me to leave my high built walls of comfort, step out and allow Him to fulfill my life with His purpose.

And oh my, how He has. How He does. How He can.

I always dreamed about writing in such a way others could relate and somehow feel encouraged…yet never felt safe to share my story. I always dreamed about speaking in front of others, watching the passion unfold from afar…yet, I knew my words never seem to come out right.

Truth it, dear friend, we need Him in order to impact them. Period.

We are nothing. He is everything. He has our everything and He is our everything. Period.

He knows your dreams and will always be one step ahead. Who do you think placed those dreams in your heart to begin with?

What if more of us simply traded our life of simply surviving in our comfort zones to thriving through faith of His unfailing promises?

What if more of us dared to believe He can move mountains?

What if more of us started listening to the call God has placed on our life instead of pushing it aside for tomorrow?

What if He could be seen in me? In you? In us?

May you leave this place of comfort and find yourself riding on Abba’s shoulders. Stretch your thriving arms out and feel the exhilarating power when He moves in the unknown of your life.

Leave surviving.

Welcome to thriving.

I’m glad we made this journey together friend! Still more to come!

  1. Bethany,

I’m your Five Minute Friday “neighbor.” Nice to meet you. 🙂 I enjoyed your post! I agree that it’s hard to leave our comfort zone, but so valuable when we do! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I so relate to this! It is a big part of the faith journey that God has been taking me on of late. I am intrigued about the 5 minute Friday and will look into it.

How absolutely true this is. I can honestly say that this blog that I started follwing for the “31 Days” has been one of the most powerful ones I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing your story. It has touched deeply.

    • Oh Debbie – That’s what I love to hear! I want God to be the center of all of my posts, to shine through and encourage others on their journey. Thank you for writing-in friend!

What a beautiful post. I leave being inspired by it. By what God might be calling me too. Praying along with you on what lies next in your journey with words and speaking life into others.

  5. I have been very blessed by your series – I hope you continue. My prayer lately is.. let my heart know and my soul understand what my head has learned, and somehow you have helped. Thank you

    • Love this Nancy! I will continue posting 2-3 times a week :). I need the “extra” time to focus on my book project. Thanks for your encouragement!

  6. I loved this challenge. I feel the call to leave my comfort zone. Even though I don’t know quite what that means in this season yet. Thank you for your encouragement.

  7. Leaving my comfort zone even though my feet are shaky and my face wants to look down instead of up into Abba’s deep knowing gaze. Trusting Him with all my heart.
Thank you Bethany, I have really enjoyed your blogs this month!

  8. Oh, LET IT BE our beginning! Your opening line, sweet friend? Gorgeous. I can think on that and be left with such hope and anticipation! “Sometimes in life the greatest moment of growth lies beyond our dreams.” Yes, please. Congratulations on seeing this challenge through. I look forward to how God moves you forward, Bethany!
