Do you believe God truly wants to carry you today?
For some, this may come as quite a surprise. Perhaps you find yourself as an active member of a church, present at every service and daily in prayer. You know all of the “right” terminology, you know the worship chorus and have the Bible verses memorized. You have done all of the “right” steps to appear to have it together on the outside, yet what about the emptiness on the inside? Friend, let me let you in on what the Pharisees later discovered after Jesus defeated the cross and rose victoriously from the dead.
Jesus did not save us to make us look good on the outside, but to set us free from the inside out. He died so that nothing can separate us from God ever again, period. There is no earning this salvation, but there is rest promised when you allow Him to find you simply as you are.
To hold you close to His chest…as you are.
For others, the hopelessly defeating labels you battle seem to tear away at any promise for long-lasting freedom in Christ. You wear the mask so well, you believe fully in the act you are playing just to keep it together for the world to see. Reading the joy the shepherd felt finding his one lost lamb shocks you to even think God could find any joy in you as you are in this very moment. For my scarlet-lettered friends, may you see the love our God shows through this story.
A few questions…
Did you notice the joy, the celebration, the leaving of the other 99 for the one that simply asked to be found?
Did you notice that the shepherd searched for his missing sheep, even though the sheep walked away on its own doing?
Did you notice the shepherd found the sheep in its trouble and gladly carried it home?
And frankly, this was a sheep – oh how He loves His sheep scented children! You my friend are just that – His beloved child. Please know you are not too far for Him to find you.
As the story closes, I personally love the imagery that is displayed as the shepherd carries his sheep on his shoulders. Can you imagine how simply amazing it would be to ride on our Abba Father’s shoulders? What if He whispers this promise to you today my friend –
I carry you home on My shoulders…I will feed My flock like a shepherd. I will carry you, My lamb in My arms, holding you close to My heart. I will gently lead My mother sheep with her young. (Isaiah 40:11 NLT)
Do you know that right now, the God of the universe wants to hold you in the same way as this lamb? He wants you close to His heart. Even more jaw dropping – can you hear His whisper to you that you are invited, today, right here as you read these words to rest in His arms? There is no other safer place than close to His heartbeat, smiling as the wind of the world seems to breeze through your hair. When you know you are with Him, it changes everything. You no longer feel the need to listen to the somewhat computerized worldly directions to get through life. In fact, it actually sounds boring compared to this amazing ride with our Abba. It is a worldview like none other that will radically change you from the inside out.
So, my friend, the question remains – have you been found? An incredible embrace is waiting just for you.
I’d love to hear your story in the comment section today!
