I don’t belong here. It’s more than just an underlying feeling, a masked identity or a place of surrender. In fact, by accepting that I do not belong actually brings longing for more. For you see, a while ago, I learned that the God of the Universe actually had a longing too. His desire to be close to me, a complete fallen spec of dust shifted by the wind, cost His Son His life – a death much more than one life for another. His longing brought the entire world a new life, both here on this earth and an eternal Home filled with those who belong to Him. His longing brings me freedom to simply be His child, a role that keeps me longing, stretching, yearning for more of Him everyday. This indeed is not my home, yet I no longer need to wait for Heaven to experience my Abba’s love right here on this earth. Because, His longing brought His presence that resides like a fire inside of my heart – a fire that cannot be put out day or night. I know I don’t belong here, but I long to belong only to Him, through Him and with Him.
Don’t spend too long longing to belong here that you miss the One that accepts you as you are, His child. Your Abba is longing to welcome you Home into a forever relationship where you will always belong.
This is my attempt at “5 Minute Friday” for this week. Find more info here. I took a much more straight-forward, blunt and to the point approach this week. I guess it comes from a crazy past few days with my boys! Sometimes you simply need to tell it like it is, right?!
